Frantoio Lamonarca
“In every activity, passion helps overcome most difficulties.”
The new headquarters of Frantoio Lamonarca, located in Ruvo di Puglia along the Via Appia Traiana, occupies a strategic position in the area renowned for the production of Italian extra virgin olive oil.
The move to the new headquarters was a valuable opportunity to fully align with the principles of environmental sustainability. The production cycle offers various opportunities to minimise environmental impact and ensure high standards of sustainability.
The three production lines fully embrace innovation in processing with knowledge derived from almost a century of experience.
Organic e DOP
The new production line is also used to process organic, PDO olives for third parties and to produce high-quality oil to be bottled under the name of the mill. The olives are carefully selected for quality upon unloading. This allows the producer’s work to be valued to the fullest and the best olives to be purchased, discarding those that do not meet the Lamonarca family’s quality standards.
Frantoio Lamonarca produces two different lines of extra virgin olive oil: organic and fruity. The organic oil is obtained using only natural substances and mechanical, non-industrial processes. The flavour of the organic oil is harmonious and balanced. The fruity oil, on the other hand, is distinguished by the use of healthy, fresh and ripe olives and is classified according to a scale of intensity, ranging from light fruity to medium fruity to intense fruity. Its flavour is intense, with slight bitter and spicy notes.
How Lamonarca oil is produced
First, the olives are carefully selected according to their ripeness to ensure a product of excellence. Innovative, customised machinery, the result of our 70 years of experience, is used to carefully separate the foliage and any debris, thus avoiding organoleptic defects in the oil caused by leaves, soil, stones and wood residues. The oil is extracted using a cold process, never exceeding 27°C, using the latest generation of decanters.
The production cycle is highly virtuous, as it does not generate waste, but every component of the process is fully exploited.
One example is the production of dry, ready-to-use olive pits, part of which is used to fuel the mill’s own thermal power plant, and the rest is sold as fuel to third parties. Finally, the pomace is regularly disposed of and sent to biogas plants in Puglia, where it is used to produce renewable fuels and energy.
