The company
Family history
It was back in 1947 that the founder of this family established the first oil mill with rudimentary equipment but supported by the hard manual labour of his employees. Today, almost eighty years later, his descendants have transformed that primitive oil mill into a large, cutting-edge oil industry thanks to their parents’ experience.
But it was a quarter of a century later, in 1972, that the founder’s eldest son, Francesco Lamonarca, inspired by a spirit of transformation of the products of the earth, and with the subsequent help of his two brothers, established our winery. In it, everyone plays their own distinct role, which leads to the closest collaboration.
The story continues with the new generation taking over and carrying on the family business, following the Apulian winemaking tradition without ever neglecting innovation.
The area
“Inde rubos fessi per venimus.”
Our company is located in the charming town mentioned by the Latin poet Quinto Orazio Flacco in his memoir of his journey from Rome to Brindisi.
Ruvo di Puglia is a hilly and fertile area at the foot of the Alta Murgia, but at the same time overlooks the sea, which is clearly visible from the highest point. It is a city of art, home to the Jatta National Museum, which houses a prestigious archaeological collection.
Its geographical position, with a mild climate in winter due to the sea breeze and cool in summer due to its altitude, makes our town an ideal destination for wine tourism.
Sustainability
When making wine and oil is good for the planet
A choice backed by energy: those who have always worked with the fruits of the earth can only show their gratitude by doing everything possible to protect its environment. And that is what our company does, starting with the roofs of our factory, which are equipped with several latest-generation photovoltaic systems for the production of solar energy.
Our wines are also committed to reducing their environmental impact through the choice of the right cork. Those used in Cinquefoglie wine bottles are 100% recyclable and made from renewable raw materials, as they are derived from plant-based polymers made from sugar cane grown in a socially responsible manner, without impacting the food chain, and are produced using sustainable manufacturing processes that utilise renewable energy.
