- GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES
In accordance with the GDPR, as well as the provisions of the Data Protection Authority in its resolution of 8 May 2014 and the guidelines issued on 10 June 2021 for the identification of simplified methods for providing information and obtaining consent for the use of cookies, and in compliance with all subsequent clarifications, the Data Controller hereby provides its Cookie Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small strings of code that the websites visited by the user send to their terminal (usually to the browser: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), where they are stored to be then retransmitted at each occurrence or subsequent access by the same user.
Why are they useful?
Through the use of cookies, the website visited recognises the user’s device, which improves the browsing experience. Among the various purposes of cookies is to allow the user to navigate effectively between the pages of the website, remember their favourite sites, store the language, etc. Cookies also help to ensure that the advertising content displayed online is more targeted to the user’s specific interests.
Classification of cookies.
Cookies are classified into different types:
– in relation to duration, cookies can be session cookies, i.e. automatically deleted when the browser is closed, or persistent cookies, i.e. active until their expiry date or until they are deleted by the user;
– in relation to their origin, cookies can be first-party, i.e. sent to the browser directly from the website being visited, or third-party, i.e. sent to the browser from other websites and not from the website being visited.
– in relation to their purpose, cookies can be technical or profiling.
Other technologies similar to cookies.
It should be noted that the purposes usually fulfilled by a cookie can also be achieved through other similar technologies, including the use of certain features that allow devices to be identified in order to analyse visits to a website. This policy applies to any technology that stores or accesses information on the user’s device. This category could include, for example, HTML5 local storage, Local Shared Objects (also known as flash cookies) and fingerprinting techniques. In particular, device fingerprinting is a technique that combines a series of pieces of information in order to uniquely identify a particular device. Examples of information that device fingerprinting can detect, associate or infer include:
data derived from a device’s configuration;
data inferable from the use of particular network protocols;
JavaScript;
information about HTTP headers, clock information;
installed fonts;
plugins installed in the browser.
From now on, when referring to cookies, this definition will also include other similar technologies.
Technical cookies.
These improve the user’s browsing experience. In fact, without the use of technical cookies, some operations would be very complex or impossible to perform. These cookies – which may be first-party or third-party, session or permanent – do not require the user’s prior consent for their installation.
Technical cookies are ‘strictly necessary’ when they allow you to navigate the website effectively and take advantage of its essential features, such as allowing you to perform computer authentication or store previous actions. Blocking the use of these cookies may compromise the user’s browsing experience.
Technical cookies are ‘functional’ when they improve the browsing experience by storing the user’s preferences, such as language, name and location. Blocking these cookies will not compromise the browsing experience, but the user will not be able to take advantage of these useful services.
Technical cookies are ‘analytical’ when they allow information to be collected on how users interact with the site, analysing the number of pages visited, the time spent on the website, the most visited pages and any other information that emerges during browsing, such as any errors originating from the page visited. These cookies allow the website owner to obtain statistical data on browsing and improve the services offered to the user.
Analytical cookies are technical in nature – rather than profiling cookies – only when the website owner has adopted appropriate tools to reduce the identifying power of the analytical cookies used, by masking significant portions of the IP address. The installation of technical cookies does not require the prior consent of the user, therefore – if the website only uses technical cookies – the data controller is not required to obtain consent through the cookie banner. However, the extended policy (the one the user is reading right now) is mandatory.
Profiling cookies.
These are only activated after the user has given their consent. Consent is given by clicking ‘OK’ (or ‘continue’, etc.) on the banner on the homepage or on another page of the same website, or through active intervention by the user (for example, by selecting an item on the page below the banner itself).
Profiling cookies are used to improve the services offered by the Data Controller and to select and send advertising based on the preferences and tastes expressed by the user while browsing. The use of profiling cookies to send targeted advertising does not imply the display of more advertisements, nor will it interfere with the browsing experience. In fact, by disabling profiling cookies, the user will only see generic advertisements instead of advertisements in line with their interests. For example, third-party statistical and analytical cookies without IP masking and without data cross-referencing, or advertising, tracking or conversion cookies, are profiling cookies.
HOW TO MANAGE COOKIE PREFERENCES.
When you first access any page of the Website, a banner appears containing:
a brief statement;
a button that allows the user to accept all cookies;
a button that allows the user to refuse the installation of cookies, except for technical cookies;
a button (‘more options’) that allows access to a dashboard through which the user can select the individual types of cookies to be installed.
In any case, except for the prior consent of the user in the case of the installation of profiling cookies,
users can also express their preferences on cookies through the settings of the browser used. By default, almost all web browsers are set to automatically accept cookies, but users can change the default configuration through the settings of the browser used, which allow them to delete/remove all or some cookies or block the sending of cookies or limit it to certain sites.
Disabling/blocking cookies or deleting them may compromise the optimal use of certain areas of the website or prevent certain features from working, as well as affect the functioning of third-party services.
The configuration of cookie management depends on the browser used. Below are instructions and links to guides for managing cookies on the main desktop browsers:

If the user uses multiple browsers, the procedure for deleting cookies must be carried out for each of them. If the user uses different devices (such as smartphones or tablets), they should refer to the instruction manual for their device to uninstall cookies. It should be noted that if you choose to block cookies, this may compromise or prevent the proper functioning of the website, as some cookies are strictly necessary for navigation.

Please note that when the ‘fr’ cookie is installed, Facebook is able to track your browsing behaviour across other websites that have implemented a Facebook pixel or a Facebook social plug-in.
Please note that we are not aware of the content of the data transmitted or how Facebook uses it.
